Austinmer in the 1950s — stripped back, windswept, and quietly evolving. This four-part black and white photo series captures the town’s coastal edge during a time of understated transition on the South Coast of NSW.

Originally photographed by one of Australia’s most recognised modernist photographers, these images are less about spectacle, more about mood. Dunes slope into sea, a lone figure drifts toward the horizon — the compositions are restrained, textural, and grounded in their time.
