Woy Woy Enchantment: Vintage Map Print

Regular price $149.00

This vintage map of Woy Woy and its surrounding district captures a formative chapter in the history of the NSW Central Coast. Charting the waterways, streets and natural features of the area, it offers a glimpse of Woy Woy as it emerged from a quiet coastal settlement into a well-connected regional hub.

By the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Woy Woy was undergoing rapid change. The arrival of the railway in 1888 transformed the town, opening it up to trade, tourism and regular movement from Sydney. Industries such as fishing, oyster farming and boatbuilding flourished along the Brisbane Water foreshore, while visitors were drawn to the calm bays, bushland and relaxed pace of life. This map reflects that period of growth, showing how the town developed around its waterways while retaining a strong sense of place.

Fun fact: In the early 1900s, many holidaymakers travelled to Woy Woy by train with boats in tow, launching them straight into Brisbane Water for days of fishing and exploring the surrounding inlets.
