This circa 1892 colour map of Randwick captures the suburb at a moment when its boundaries — and its future — were still being worked out. Extending south to Coogee, the map places Randwick within the Parishes of Alexandria and Botany, using the surveying framework that defined land ownership and planning across Sydney in the late nineteenth century.

Well-known landmarks such as Centennial Park and the Randwick Racecourse are clearly shown, but it’s the areas in between that make the map especially engaging.
