On The Rocks: 1940s Retro Beach Photography Print Set

No reviews
Regular price $159.00

ON THE ROCKS is a stunning 1940s vintage print set by the acclaimed fashion photographer Toni Frissell. These two pieces capture the timeless elegance of a model in a retro two-piece swimsuit, set against the rugged beauty of coastal rocks. The first print features the model with a radiant smile, framed by the calm sea and a gentle white wash of water near the rocks. The second photo contrasts with a more serene, contemplative mood—the model standing still amidst a quieter, more tranquil ocean, with only subtle ripples against the rocks.

Frissell’s ability to capture both the effortless glamour of 1940s beach fashion and the dynamic energy of the sea brings these prints to life. Whether you’re drawn to the joy and movement of the first scene or the calm elegance of the second, this vintage print set adds a touch of retro beach sophistication to any space.

Port Douglas Vintage Map Plan Print 1878

No reviews
Regular price $149.00

This 1878 vintage map captures the Township of Port Douglas in its earliest form, tracing the general layout and structure of the town rather than individual street names. Shaped by the nearby coast and river inlets, the map shows the pattern of the settlement as it emerged to support the surrounding goldfields and timber industries.

It’s a striking visual record of Port Douglas before it grew into the iconic holiday destination it is today. Perfect for collectors, Queensland history enthusiasts, or anyone drawn to tropical coastal landscapes, this print combines historical intrigue with design appeal, making it a standout addition to any wall or gallery.

Fun Fact:
When this map was created in 1878, Port Douglas had only recently been founded. Its orderly street layout was planned to accommodate future growth, yet much of the surrounding land remained untouched rainforest and wetlands — a dramatic contrast to the bustling town of today.

Port Stephens City Vintage Subdivision Map Print 1920's

No reviews
Regular price $149.00

The Port Stephens – 1st Subdivision Estate City Map offers a beautifully understated look at early coastal planning along this iconic stretch of New South Wales. Produced in the 1920s, it captures the region at a moment when Port Stephens was beginning to shift from a quiet shoreline into a more defined community. The layout is simple but assured—streets, allotments, and coastal contours arranged with the measured clarity typical of early subdivision maps.

One of its most distinctive details is the row of sold lots marked in red along Cove Boulevard, lining the waterfront with an early wave of interest in what would become some of the area’s most sought-after land. It’s a small but telling glimpse of the era’s optimism and the beginnings of Port Stephens’ coastal appeal.

There’s a quiet charm in the minimal typography and open spacing, giving the map a balanced, airy aesthetic that suits both modern and heritage-inspired interiors. It’s an elegant piece for those connected to Port Stephens, lovers of Australian coastal history, or anyone drawn to classic map design with a gentle, timeless presence.

Fun Fact: The early 20th century saw a surge of subdivision activity around Port Stephens as new residents and holidaymakers discovered the region—each map capturing a moment in Australia’s evolving coastal story.

RANDWICK: Roaring 20s Revival Astolat Land Subdivision Auction - Vintage Real Estate Advert 1920 from Curat'd Walls

Randwick: Astolat Subdivision – Land Auction Print, 1920

Regular price $149.00

This land auction print documents the Astolat Subdivision in Randwick, promoted in 1920 as “facing three of the best streets in Randwick” — Frenchmans Road, Astolat Street, and Avoca Street. The poster lays out allotments and street frontages with clarity and confidence, reflecting how location and street prestige were used to shape buyer interest in the early twentieth century.

The auction was scheduled for 14 February 1920, originally set for 3pm and later amended in red to 4pm, a small but telling detail that preserves the working life of the original poster. Positioned across the road from the Wireless Station, the subdivision was marketed at a time when proximity to modern infrastructure carried real appeal.

Both a promotional document and a historical record, the print captures Randwick at a moment of transition, when suburban growth, new technologies, and carefully chosen language defined how land was sold. It’s a quietly compelling piece for interiors that value urban history, early real estate design, and the fine details that anchor a place in time.

Randwick: Vintage Map Circa 1892 Print

Regular price $149.00

This circa 1892 colour map of Randwick captures the suburb at a moment when its boundaries — and its future — were still being worked out. Extending south to Coogee, the map places Randwick within the Parishes of Alexandria and Botany, using the surveying framework that defined land ownership and planning across Sydney in the late nineteenth century.

Well-known landmarks such as Centennial Park and the Randwick Racecourse are clearly shown, but it’s the areas in between that make the map especially engaging. Streets appear mid-formation, open land sits beside established routes, and coastal edges toward Coogee hint at a suburb balancing city life with access to the sea. Some roads remain familiar today, while others have shifted, disappeared, or never progressed beyond survey lines.

Printed in original period colour, the map has the quiet confidence of a working document — practical, detailed, and unconcerned with embellishment. It offers an absorbing look at

Fun fact: In the 1890s, travelling from Randwick down to Coogee often meant walking or taking a horse-drawn tram — the direct electric tram line to the beach wouldn’t arrive until the early 1900s.

Redcliffe Foreshore Vintage Map Print Circa 1800's

No reviews
Regular price $149.00

This vintage map print presents the Plan of the Township of Sutton, Redcliff Point — a focused coastal survey of what is now Redcliffe, Queensland. The map documents the foreshore edge and a small number of inland blocks, extending only as far as present-day John Street, reflecting an early emphasis on shoreline access rather than full township coverage.

Undated and attributed to R.S. Hews & Co, the plan captures Redcliff Point at a formative stage, when the settlement was still being defined through its relationship with the bay. The limited scope gives the map its character: a measured strip of coastline, surveyed with intent, before inland expansion reshaped the peninsula.

The township name Sutton — later abandoned — marks a brief chapter in Redcliffe’s naming history, making this map an especially compelling record of a place mid-transition. Quiet and spatially specific, it suits interiors that value history, restraint, and maps that speak through geography rather than ornament.

Ryde Vintage Map Print Circa 1885-1890

Regular price $149.00

This vintage district map presents Ryde and surrounding areas including Hunters Hill, Five Dock, Putney, and Homebush during the late 19th century, when the region was still shaped by river access, estates, and early settlement patterns.

Dating from circa 1885–1890, the map captures a landscape in transition. Roads are present but widely spaced, development is limited, and large tracts of land remain intact — a striking contrast to the tightly developed suburbs that exist today. The Parramatta River features prominently, underscoring its importance as a transport route and lifeline for the district.

Quiet and detailed, this map suits heritage interiors, studies, and spaces that value early Sydney history. It offers a clear view of the Ryde district before suburban expansion reshaped Sydney’s inner west and northern river suburbs.

Fun fact: In the late 1800s, suburbs like Five Dock and Homebush were still semi-rural, with ferry services along the Parramatta River often preferred over rough and unreliable roads.
