Adelaide: Historic Plan of the City Map 1895 Print

Regular price $148.00

This 1895 map of Adelaide, originally drafted by Frearsons, offers a fascinating look at the city in its early years. It shows Adelaide before modern development, when the streets, parks, and public spaces that still define the city were only just taking shape.

Adelaide was established as a free settlement in 1836 and was thoughtfully planned with wide streets and generous parklands — a layout that set it apart from many other cities of the time. Printed from the original 1895 plan, this map highlights the early street grid, key reserves, and landmarks that formed the foundation of the city we know today.

A beautiful piece of Australian history, this print suits anyone with an interest in Adelaide, heritage architecture, or vintage maps.

Fun fact: When this map was made, Adelaide’s wide streets were often criticised as being “too big” — long before traffic ever became a problem.
